I didn't start buying music until portable CD players became reasonable(ish). Then, I bought classical music because it was cheap (only $4-$6 a disc at Wal-mart!). First one was a Beethoven symphony by the London Philharmonic. This was probably 1993? I was 16.

I had three part-time jobs then so it would have been money from those. (paper route, grunt at wal-mart in the electronics department, contract programming for a regional bank)

This one wasn't my first, but it was one of my favorites a few years later. I read the The St. Cleve Chronicle and Linwell Advertiser from cover to cover many times.

Ah, yes, Jethro! Had "Benefit" on vinyl, and "Aqualung" and "Thick As A Brick" on eight-track...

Great concert band; have seen them three times over the years.

Didn't ever buy 45s. First LP I think was Jesus Christ Superstar, then Chicago VI and Here Comes Rhymin' Simon (the Kodachrome album).
