Four More Years...Talkin' Cars, of Course
In four more years, I will have owned my car for 20 years. When I bought it (actually back in '95, but it's a 96 model), if I kept it for 100K miles or 10 years, I would have been happy. But now, 20 years is a real posibility.
My car is like the player that year is expected to be cut from the team, but somehow survives another year.
Perhaps it's just laziness in my part. IMO, the best thing about not getting another car...don't have to learn a new dash layout.

Only 20? The Monte and I are going strong since 1984!  Actually 20 years is a great accomplishment. Good job!

I did for many years, but not as much recently. Despite my best efforts I had some rust pop out from under the vinyl top. Getting new paint and some other things done this year, and I'll be back to babying it...

Yes, congrats! 
I bought a 1991 Civic in 1997 with 102,400 miles on it that had 304,500 miles on it when I drove it to the junkyard last September. I bought a 1993 Accord with just 113k to replace it. My truck I bought new in 1973 and still have it. I tend to keep vehicles a long time.

Wow, youse guys got me beat. I usually go about 10 years, the highest mileage car I've ever had was 164K (and it looked and ran fine to be honest). Guess I'm a big spender. 
Seriously, congrats. Keeping a car 200-300K or 20 years is undoubtedly cost effective and rewarding.

You even have me beat.... the most miles on any of my cars was 125,000... all others have had just under 100,000... I have owned mostly domestics and they do not do well over 100K.... (at least for me)...
My '04 Acura has 41,000.. I am driving it a bit more now as it used to be my 'weekend' car... now it is my daily driver...

Being a GM guy and having driven everything they ever made, made me kind of shudder when I bought a 1998 Ford Escort. I had just turned in a 1999 Chevy leased car and we were going to try to get down to one car. Being retired, it just didn't seem like two cars was a necessity. I was still playing golf three days a week and it just wasn't working out. My wife said "why don't you buy a little car just to go to the golf course". That started my search and I found this little Ford Escort for sale by The Veterans Club. Some old Navy guy had donated it. It had 147000 miles on it and I paid $1700. It was tight, was a 5-speed with really cold air. Neat, and the golf clubs fit just right. Kept that car until 2011 and sold it to some kid for $1400. At that time it had 187k miles. Over those years I only put about $500 in repairs. I was down to playing golf once a week and couldn't justify keeping that car. It's still running great and I see it every once in a while and the kid gives me the thumbs up. Best car investment I ever made.

That's 65k miles per year. That's a lot of wear and tear on your a$$.

I just put $400 in tires on my 95 Dodge Ram, that sucker better last another 18 years.
