So here's the idea. Buy a cheap one way ticket to NYC. See the sights, catch a play, etc, and use up all your cash until you can't pay your hotel room. Then show up in front of City Hall and get a free flight back home.

I like this approach. If you have family and they can help, you are back to where you came from. It makes sense and saves taxpayers money. One of the socially correct type of talking heads was put out about this and saying they were just shifting folks to a family members couch. While I am not crazy about some of my family I think their couch and support would beat a homeless shelter.
