Agree. He kept it simple. He seemed happy and he made a lot of people happy.

Pretty sure the kids are glad I didn't do the extreme frugal route and I think the wife believes that most of the time.
 
I don't think his behavior was related to why he had a large estate (it sounds like he made some smart investments)--I bet he would have lived like that no matter what.

It sounds like he was a nice man who enjoyed his life.
 
Tough rules...But I think I have Rule 2 buttoned down. ;)

I like these stories. I have made designations for gifts to be given to the local community in my will. It won't be a lot, but somebody's gotta do it. :D
 
I agree totally with him on no. 7. Smart move. When I was making really good money before I left Texas, if a repair man or other person selling me something knew it, boy! did they ever try and gouge me. Some got away with it, too.
Nope, for me, I have nothing. Nada. Zip. Broke. And that's my story and I'm stickin' to it from now on.
