Last time Khan posted this video, I shared it on FB, where my gay male friends were the big "likers"!

For some reason, I don't think those sweater gals are looking for gay partners. Of course I could be wrong about that - what do I know

Well, I guess that technically it's a sweater, and they it sure is yellow.

What were we talking about again?

Oh, yeah, the ad. As I understand the symbology, that green triangle in the upper right corner of the link box means that the ad is only served up to certain posters. In other words, whether or not you see the ad might depend on what gender & birthdate you've entered in your profile. That could mean our profiles are being parsed by Google, and it also appears to assume that we're all heterosexuals. But in any case, once again we posters are not the customers-- we're the product.

In we posters are "product", then I'm not sure what classification would be ascribed to the moderators...

Didn't enter my birthdate or gender in my profile so that may explain why this ad was served up to me. Don't much like the idea of being "the product". Not at all.

I think your own viewing history drives the adsense/adchoice ads that appear (Google makes the call on gender etc. pretty stereotypically from websites that you visit):

Quote:
The AdChoices icon appears on sites that use Google's AdSense program to show ads. While Google often shows you ads based on the content of the page you are viewing, we also show some ads based on the types of websites you visit, view, or where you interact with an ad or other Google product supported by Google's advertising services. ....
AdSense Help

You can also see how to opt out of Google ads here:

Google Ads Preferences

But what any of this has to do with classifying the moderators beats me.

What would birthdate have to do with it (assuming you're past puberty)?

Forget the yellow sweater. I'm more into a woman's mind.

I would read a good book with her any day.

Purron, I am virtually positive that whatever is or isn't entered in our profiles has nothing to do with what ads Google provides for our individual viewing pleasure. If I'm wrong, someone will be sure to correct me!

But as I noted above, you can also opt out of them.

I feel deprived - all I'm getting is adds for "rare stamps" and a local employment agency.

We go into the city several times a year. DW is always looking to see what new Broadway shows are available, and that's why most of our "teasers" (along with me looking at cars) are in the block.

Occam's Razor says there are far simpler/easier ways to get this info than digging into the vBulletin database.

Oh, so it's my fault I got the yellow sweater girl ad because of what I browsed and searched on my dedicated computer. I just knew I was hitting those cat rescue sites too often

Well, cat house equals, you know... just kidding, I swear!

.I did just look over a couple of sites on my computer for moving trucks for our office, and lo and behold, I was served a Budget Rent a truck ad!

How about just saying the truth, Unclemick. As in "Why is my girlfriend trying to find another man and cheat on me?"
