Good Piece on NOLA

A good read about what should be done. The first story I've seen yet about the sad state of local guvmint in NOLA.

Good piece. The author, Fred Starr was my high school classmate. When the rest of us liked rock and roll, Fred played trombone in a Dixieland band.

Looks like he has had an interesting and useful career. He also looks pretty young for a guy pushing 65!

I agree that it is a good piece overall, but I question the authors choice of words:

"...give people the chance to rehabilitate and restore rather than tear down and rebuild. New Orleans' culture lives in its neighborhoods. If the distinctive housing types and buildings saturated with the communities' memories are demolished, the culture will wither to nothing."

"Community memories" is NOT what those houses are saturated with... :P
