Good Piece on NOLA

Good piece. The author, Fred Starr was my high school classmate. When the rest of us liked rock and roll, Fred played trombone in a Dixieland band.

Looks like he has had an interesting and useful career. He also looks pretty young for a guy pushing 65!

He does look pretty young, but you look more presidential.  Really can't explain why, just my perception I guess.

I agree that it is a good piece overall, but I question the authors choice of words:

"...give people the chance to rehabilitate and restore rather than tear down and rebuild. New Orleans' culture lives in its neighborhoods. If the distinctive housing types and buildings saturated with the communities' memories are demolished, the culture will wither to nothing."

"Community memories" is NOT what those houses are saturated with... :p
