Google (SPY) Street View~ Good idea or not

Google spies on America. - By Michael Agger - Slate Magazine

Quote:
The latest explosion is Google Street View. The free-sushi-eating Googleheads dreamed up the idea to send a camera-equipped van to take 360-degree shots around the streets of San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York, Denver, and Miami.
Big Brother Google is watching if you live in one of these cities: SF, LV, NY, Denver or Miami. Pretty cool technology, but where will it lead to?

I found it very blurry and hard to negotiate but no doubt they will improve it. This could take the fun and mystery out of travel.

Straight-on views of my house can be found elsewhere on the net and I can tell approximately when they were taken by the windows. Seems real estate interests photograph everything whether its currently on the market or not.

More scary was an old college list that could be googled up by typing in my address; it had everything except mother’s maiden name and Social Security number. They have since corrected the problem, and the list is gone.
