Re: Gratuitous camera-phone shots of gas prices

We've been at $3.02/gal for a week or so, but the funny thing is that we are still at that price while, according to Brian Williams, the nationwide average is higher than that.

2.75 in nw wisconsin, our oil comes from canada with refining capacity probably enough in the upper midwest. We actually have a pretty high gas tax. I am not sure if the prices will be more regional.

Re: Gratuitous camera-phone shots of gas prices

St Louis MO gas prices:

Monday 8/29 - $2.38.9/gallon
Wednesday morning 8/31 - $2.69.9/gallon
Wednesday afternoon 8/31 - $2.99.9/gallon

Up 60 cents a gallon since Monday. Up 30 cents a gallon in one day. Why does the same gas that was in the station's tanks on Monday cost 60 cents a gallon more on Wednesday? It didn't cost the oil companies 60 cents more a gallon to make that gas.

$3.09 in central Wisconsin.

Hopefully this will be somewhat short-lived. But I'm still not complaining....I have a house and a paycheck. Way too many people down south that don't.

$5.59 last night in Atlanta suburbs, before the governor put a ban on gas price gouging.
$3.39 same gas station this morning.

And if you look even harder, you can see the Virgin Mary in that photo.

The station might not be the one doing the increase... I worked for a gas station way back when you had full service. We were a 'small' station and got a tanker delivery every two or three days... the big stations got a delivery EVERY DAY, so prices move quickly...

Now the oil companies have the oil in inventory and paid 'less' for it. But, if you were the owner of a widget and paid $40 for it and now people are selling them for $70, why would you want to sell yours for $40? Just because you were nice?

Exxon Mobil says it is keeping retail gasoline prices at company-owned stations unchanged.

I hope this is true and sets an example for everyone in this time of sorrow and crisis.

And the gas stations will get hurt when the gas they are buying for $2.80/gal now is being sold for $2.50/gal next week (if that happens).

We are still in the $2.50 range. I guess the locals are giving us a break due to all the other problems we are experiencing. It won't last tho.

Re: Gratuitous camera-phone shots of gas prices

A gas station in Stockbridge, Ga., priced gasoline between $5.87 and $6.07 a gallon. Many gas stations in and around downtown Atlanta had run out of gas by sunrise, as area residents rushed to fill their tanks in preparation for even higher prices.

No, I think it's another image of the Virgin Mary.

I hope this is not true as normal consumption of gas will only make the supply problems worse.
