(1)Never really measured the length, my hair grows "up", not "long". I am fortunate to still have a full thick head of hair. When the combing/brushing gets longer than desired, or the shape starts looking funny, is when I get it cut.

(2) Every 2-3 months, get it cut down to a #2 trimmer length. Cost (including tip) is around $20.

Wow, lots of expensive haircuts there! The barber I go to charges $8 and I give him a $2 tip. In the 14 years we've been here he hasn't raised his price. A couple of years ago he was rear-ended in his car by some teenage bimbo texting and that hurt his back and he cut back his hours, quitting at noon. Last time I was there he had a substitute, I do hope he comes back.

I practically cut/shave my head every 2 or 3 weeks, by myself with a hair clipper. Did not spend a dim on hair cut for almost 20 years.

Every 4 weeks. $20 per, including tip. It's as short now as when I was in the Navy. When I was a teen back in the 70s, I had the Greg Brady look, but that ended on Induction Day.

Brush cut as a child. Let it grow longish in high school but nowhere near shoulder length. Always had it cut short once work started. Always felt that no one wanted to hear someone with bed head telling them that they needed surgery. Get it cut every 4-6 weeks now by barber. Short. Usually have to ask them to cut it shorter than they would like to. Wear it a quite short in summer time.

I feel the need for a haircut around 8 weeks, but end up going for one about every 12 weeks. I go for 2" on top and 1" on sides. My wife would like me to go longer between cuts because my hair starts to curl at 8 weeks, which she likes.

About the same for me. 1 1/2 to 2 inches on top, 1/2 to 3/4 inch on the sides.

Thinking of trying it somewhat longer when I retire.

I use a #2 on myself every couple of weeks and DW trims up the back. With the small amount of hair that I have left, the whole job takes us about 5 minutes...

I haven't been to the barber since ER 4 years ago. I keep it trimmed up nicely around the ears, neck, etc. In the back, it's about down to the middle of my shoulder blades. I usually keep it in a ponytail when I leave the house, otherwise I might frighten the natives.

DW cuts mine when it gets bushy.
But I have to keep the nose and ears trimmed every couple of days. Where did that come from?

I've already been vetoed on that idea! (When we started dating, I was wing on the rugby team, with past the shoulder ringlets.... Worked then, but not any more, apparently!)

I cut my hair every 3-4 weeks with a #3 on the sides. I cut my own hair and visit my local barber ~2x per year for special occasions. She charges me $10 and I leave her a $5 tip.

At that rate, I've saved more than $28,000.00 in haircuts.

Where did the money go?
I get a cut every 6 weeks. The seniors' rate has been creeping up steadily and is currently $24. My eyebrows and me ears need to be cut more often but I just tough it out. I do my nose regularly with a little trimmer.

In PV I only spend 60 pesos but same service and frequency.

So, I am asking two questions;

1. What is the longest you let your hair grow? - skinhead, a 1/2 inch, an inch, a few inches, down to the shoulder, ponytail or ?

2. How often do you get it cut to keep it at that length or shorter? (Note: it doesn't matter who cuts your hair only that it is cut)
I recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of my last haircut. It comes a month before the anniversary of my military retirement.

My ponytail has been about a foot long for over a decade. Apparently the rate of the hairs falling out (of their own weight? weakening with age?) is at least as high as the growth rate. The hair on top is no longer making much of a contribution to the total, but at this point I'm just going to let nature take its course for the next decade or so.

A guy I used to work with did that too. He was the stereotype of "spit & polish" at work - tailored uniforms, spit-shined shoes, crisp creases on the pants & shirts. Not a loose thread or speck of lint to be seen. After a midnight shift everyone else was a little rumpled and wrinkled, but Fred always looked like he'd been hanging in a closet all night.

A year or so after retirement I ran into him somewhere and was astonished to see the ponytail.

I contemplated the ponytail route, but it would likely take two years to get there... Decided the close crop was much less hassle.
