Happy Birthday to me

So it's as unique a birthday as I've ever had:

I'm in Hawaii, yay!

On Business, boo!

My hotel is great, yay!

They had a gas main break last night, boo!

Mostly it's "yay", though. They need help out here, and the work is right up my alley. DW and daughter will be out here tomorrow, having a great time, I'm sure.
Met up with a buddy last night for dinner, quite nice. I see lots of new topics that pique my interest, I'll have to catch up on my reading when I get home. Aloha!

Re: Happy Birthday to me

Yeah, I wish I was catching waves and admiring the "scenery"! I'm actually poring over reports and configuring systems/networks etc. all day. Still, Waikiki is not a bad place to hang out in the evening.

Now this upcoming weekend is going to ROCK! Snorkel time!

Oahu surf has really, truly, and deeply sucked for the last two weeks.

I think I'm going through withdrawal symptoms...

Laurence, get back to work. Your company didn't send you over there to screw around waste time on this forum.

And what's this "snorkel time" quip? Bet that's some sort of island slang for something dirty obscene else.

31? I've got shoes older than you. Darned kids....

I'm past withdrawal. This is the worst summer for surf that I've seen on Maui. We haven't had a decent sized swell (overhead high) the entire summer. The nice thing is that the trades have been on since April. Windsurfing has been fantastic, and it hasn't been too hot. We're leaving for the east coast and Europe in two weeks. I'm sure that the storms down under will start pumping the surf when we're gone.

The good news is that the lack of southerly waves means great snorkeling on the leyward side.

Hauoli la hanau! (Happy Birthday)

Re: Happy Birthday to me

Thanks, all!

Ugh, no matter how much sunscreen I use, I always get something burnt. Today, it was the small of my backs and the tops of my feet.

But it was worth it to snorkel Hanauma Bay's outer reef.

DW and daughter are napping before dinner. I'm amusing myself here.
