I'd go find a nice restaurant that serves Thanksgiving with all the trimmings, and go there. Have a couple drinks and relax........

We're having a small family gathering at our home tomorrow.

Something to be upset about: oven went out yesterday afternoon
Something to be thankful for: oven went out yesterday afternoon (not tomorrow afternoon)

May we all find something to be thankful for!

Since my divorce the kids have taken a lot of the stress out of Holiday celebrations by getting us included to very large gatherings put on by their friends. When there are 40 or 50 people around, a bunch of little hurts and resentments can't really get in the door.

The only time I wish I had a house is when I think I would love to be able to reciprocate with a big summer barbecue. When we lived out in the country we used to do a lamb or pig on a giant outdoor spit once a year, and I really liked it.

Tons of meat, gallons of beer and wine, and music for dancing, how lucky can any guy be?

Ha

tonight is mostly peeling. my usual szechuan cucumber salad & then white mashed potato for 17 this year. good think i over-bought for the 14 who i thought were coming, because you couldn't get me near a supermarket tonight. not even if they were giving away chocolate. i had to venture out today for szechuan peppercorn (a berry, actually). the traffic here is a mess. even some of my sidestreet detours were crowded. what a perfect night to party near home. good thing my neighborhood happens to be where everyone comes out to party.

happy tofurkeyday everyone

well, if you understand the techno-geek personality type...

the engineer in me will calculate the roasting time in nanoseconds.
the computer geek in dh2b will reboot (open oven door and baste) the turkey every hour.
dh2b will carve and i'll calibrate the carving knife and kibbitz the slicing procedure.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone,

Tomorrow, we'll be having ham (already cooked) and tofurkey for the vegetarians among us. I am prepping the butternut squash soup and rolls tonight. The pecan pie is ready to go. I'll just have to work on the fixins tomorrow.

We're having the typical Thanksgiving dinner: 10# butterball turkey, dressing, gravy, spinach casserole, mashed taters, candied sweet taters, cranberry sauce, and dinner rolls.....all that for the 2 of us....TONS of leftovers!

Everyone have a Happy Turkey Bird Day!
