Hawaii Question

Know there's a lot of people on this forum in Hawaii. Why isn't there any discussion about the lava flow?

When I lived there, it was pretty much taken for granted that certain areas on the Big Island would always be in the way of lava flows following their usual paths. Lava flows weren't a rare event at all on the Big Island, and were a great tourist attraction. The only people who bought houses in those particular subdivisions (at bargain prices) were those from the Mainland who hadn't done their homework. I don't know, but would imagine, that the latest lava flow is in that same general area?

I figure the lava comes with the territory.

Much like earthquakes in California, hurricanes in Miami and tornadoes in the flat lands.

Volcanoes are what made Hawaii in the first place. I do not see that this is any surprise that Hawaii is continuing this process.

Well not all the flows are aimed at a town. I've been following the
city-data thread (I think they merged two threads) since July. Slow motion disaster. The town of Pahoa might be cut in half with no access.
National news didn't pick it up until they could get pictures of lava crossing a road. Scientists tracking new Kilauea lava flow - Big Island - Hawaii (HI) -The Island of Hawaii - Page 22 - City-Data Forum

Hot is on the left, cold is on the right, and lava flows downhill.

A good friend bought a condo in a new development on Kona 3 years go. Seeing him tonight ... will get the skinny.

I wonder if lava damage is like flood damage ... you pay extra or roll the dice ("What? ME WORRY??")
