I see that Degaulle's quote:* "God watches over fools, drunks, and the United States of America", has also been attributed to Bismarck:* "Otto von Bismarck is alleged to have muttered, 'God has a special providence for fools, drunks and the United States of America'?"

I don't know my way around a quote dictionary well enough to tell who's the authentic source... but I bet DeGaulle felt safe in taking credit for it!

Actually I don't even remember when I first ran across the quote.

Somehow I doubt De Gaul would have given the old German credit.

heh heh heh heh - I'll stick with De Gaul for the time being - it has more cache.
