Bingo, we have Bingo!

2100 sq ft, 3 bedroom 2.5 bath, on slab no basement (YAY!) Living room, dining room kitchen all very open concept. DW suggested getting rid of dining room and putting pool table/ping pongtop in the living room. Made the dining area the TV area. We use the pool table as the dining room table for holidays and can sit 12 people comfortably. Keep chairs in the attic.

Works for us.

See ya,

Don't really care about a pool table. As other folks use their exercise equipment, for me a pool table would just be a place to pile stuff...

Our current home is almost 2400 sq. feet with a double garage and 4 bedrooms. However, we're in the early stages of constructing a home that will be between 2800 and 2900 sq. feet, also with 4 bedrooms, but will also have a triple garage (extra room for DH's dirtbike and the kids' stuff) .

From this I deduce that those with homes from 1000 to 2500 sf are middle class. Those with homes over 2500 are rich, and those over 4000 sf are Buffet's uber-rich. Seems clear...

We are renting a appox 1600 sq foot town home with an 800 sq foot basement & a 2 car garage. And we think it is just a tad too small for the two of us.

I was talking to my brother today and he reminded me that we grew up in a 900 sq ft, 2 br apartment - 3 brothers, our parents and a big German shepherd. Expectations change.

Yeah...I could. There's only one problem...we've got stuff in all three rooms we don't use. One room can easily be turned into a closet/storage space, but the stuff in there mostly belongs to DH. At this point he ain't budgin'.

I'm beginning to look 'outside the box' as time goes by. ...just got to convince him.

....and no Walt, I'm not gonna put the motorcycle in one of those rooms.

Fixed it, if you are talking about the public in general and not our members. I doubt many of our members are in hock up to their eyeballs....

Been there, done that.... it was my father's pool table and was a very nice one... I moved it to my house and had it in the living room/dining room combo and you did not have any bad shots...

I used it a lot for about 5 or so years.... then less and less... after about 10 years not at all... but when we bought our new house the wife did NOT want it to come... so sold it as is to the person who bought my old house... her problem now

My house is 2800 sq.feet with a 1200 sq.foot garage . I had always wanted to live on the water so I did that .Absolutely great view but now I'm ready to move on to something smaller as soon as the economy cooperates.

Solution? Convert the garage into living quarters and rent out the house ...

You can keep your view...

(Yes, I'm kidding.)

2600 sf, 4 BR, 2.5 Bath. I think it's a bit too large, but with two kids it's nice to be able to go to the other end of the house if I need quiet time. I can't see staying here after the kids are off to college. Property taxes are way too high!

Took awhile for me to be brave enough and admit that we have a 5500 sq ft house for two people and a cat. The house is not luxury in any means, just a very large and very well built basic home. We absolutely don't need this much space, but we bought the place because of the lovely 10+ acre lot on a hilltop with a lake view. The price was right and honestly the utilities and taxes here in the countryside cost us considerably less than in our previous 1900 sq ft house in Chicago area. I have thought about putting a bowling alley or maybe a movie theater in our basement generate some extra cash and help achieve FI a bit faster.

3400 square feet- may be a bit larger but not by much, attached garage, 4 bedrooms with the Master downstairs, bonus room above garage, Large kitchen, Great Room, Dining Room, 3 1/2 baths, 3/4 acre lot. Because the Master down was an addition over 15 years ago, we ended up with 3 heat pumps.
Currently 2 people, 2 dogs and 1 cat. When the 3 children are here......the house fills up. I've thought about downsizing...but then where do the kids sleep when they come? I suppose in another few years, we will find out how often they are all here at one time. Plus I don't think I can sell it and buy something smaller and make enough money from the transaction to make it worth it. But I could be wrong. Other thing is I like my house and my husband and I both like our own space too!

Since I seem to be the only one who voted their home was 4000 or greater sq. ft, I can assure you we are not uber-rich. I traded houses over decades to build equity and that allowed a lot more house with a lot lower mortgage. We sure don't consider ourselves in the upper stratosphere of wealth by any means. Our income is certainly middle class.

You can't judge wealth by the size of a house or the make of car someone drives. There are a lot of other issues involved that has nothing to do with income or net worth.

We used to own a 2,500 sq ft vacation house but I did not know what to do with the space. Most of the time when I was there, I'll hang around in the master bedroom and living hall and hardly go to the rest of the house and backyard. I guess I've been living in small apartments for so long that my current smaller apartment is just near perfect.
