Great article. Very good tips. I do personally post after midnight sometimes, but I'm a night owl.

I like this forum and the honesty here. Also the helpfulness of people.
However, there was recently a "test" posted online where nearly everyone got 100% and acted like if you didn't, you were an idiot. I was disappointed by that thread and hope it isn't a trend of things to come. I shamefully admit that I acted haughty and righteous on a yet earlier "test thread" (that was a bit easier). So include me in it.
That came to mind after reading this part from the article, highlighting some not so great trends:
" the Internet is a place to exaggerate the better parts of yourself, to hide unsightly flaws, to say the thing you’d have never thought to say in a face-to-face conversation from behind a keyboard "

This forum has a great culture and good moderators. Other forums I've frequented tolerate resident bullies who pass out a little knowledge and a little abuse with every post, especially to newbies.
On one site, I came to realize I had most of the regulars on "ignore" so it was time to go.

I don't think leopards can change their spots whether online or in person, especially by the age this forum appeals to. But most leopards here seem to have very nice spots.

Yeah, kudos to the moderators. This is about the only place I come to regularly. Occasionally I'll cruise reddit or comments on news sites like CNN and come away wondering who ARE these people and don't they have anything better to do than type such offensive or nonsensical drivel?

I'd prefer to be a jerk. I'm just not good at it yet, but, I hope, I'm learning.
If I'm getting it right, please PM me.

Here's how the e-r.org Mod Squad does its work deciding on which members are in danger of sliding into Internet Jerk (or Jerkette) From Hell.
Kind of like stogie-chewing Cerberus.

You're better at it than you think.
