HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 AIO Printers

OK this is a longshot that anyone knows anything on this. But -- I'll try.

Currently among the OfficeJet ProAll in One printers the top is the 8000 series. The 8720 has hit a lot of best all in one printer lists. But, it has a couple of disadvantages. The most important to me is that it won't do single pass 2-sided copying or scanning which is a dealbreaker for me.

The 8730 will do that. The 8740 is the same as the 8730 but was $50 more ($399.99) for a second paper tray which I don't care about.

The list price of the 8720 is $299.99. Currently it is $179.99 on HP's website (and elsewnere). The 8740 is $399.99 ($349 on Amazon). However, the 8730 is shown on HP's website as discontinued. I don't know why. Perhaps the people who would pay $349 for it would pay $50 more for the second paper tray.

Anyway - the 8730 can be found discounted at various places but probably won't be available for long. I don't want to pay for the 8740.

What I wonder is does the discontinuation of the 8730 and the price cutting on the 8720 (and the lesser 8710) make it likely that HP is about to come out with a new model?

The predecessor the the 8700s came out in 2014 and the 8700s came out in mid-2016. So that makes it seem they might replace it soon. But, I've looked and haven't found anything.

Does anyone know anything about these models and possible replacement and/or why the 8730 was discontinued?
