I need to stay away from the ER Forum for a while - FA Nightmare!
I've decided I need to spend less time on the ER Forum. Not because I'm not getting everything else done, but because it is (duh duh duh DUNNNN) affecting my brain. I have had what is possibly the first known Financial Advisor (Dreaming) Nightmare.
Last night I dreamed that a young man and woman, dressed like the religious door-to-door people, came to our house selling FA services. Mr. A. had already invited them in, and they were seated at the kitchen table, pitching to him. They were obviously focusing on Mr. A. because he doesn't read this forum, doesn't care about investing, and isn't as suspicious as his mean old wife. I immediately asked, "But can you beat Vanguard?" They started to hem and haw, and I thought I'd won, but no...
One of them said something to Mr. A. about "Only costs a dollar!" I jumped in with, "A dollar per thousand dollars in our portfolio, you mean?" The other one rolled her eyes. They were on about special high-yield investments that we could only buy through them. I said firmly, "I don't think you have anything to offer us. I have to go work now, so you will have to leave." They got up and were pretending to walk toward the front door, but I just KNEW that the moment my back was turned, they would come back on some pretense and try to get Mr. A. to sign something. Maybe they would pretend to be stuck in our snowy driveway and call him on their cell phones to come and dig them out (which he would do).
Finally I got so upset, it woke me up. I told Mr. A all about the dream - he was laughing - and promised that if any FA's come to the door, he'll send them packing.
But...I think it means I really, really need to stay away from youse guys for a while...

I've had women tell me that before but they never used the plural. 
Interesting dream story. Now that I'm retired I'm wondering how much time I'll spend here. I mostly got on from work when things were slow and I got bored. If I'm on here a lot, I might as well go back to work.

But that dream was so entertaining! Lots more interesting than dreaming about doing three loads of laundry or something like that.
I usually just dream about mundane stuff from my daily life. Very ho-hum.

What, you're an expert at interpreting dreams now? That's harder than market timing!
But I consulted a world renowned dream specialist on your behalf (you're welcome) and she said it could just as easily mean you're not spending ENOUGH time here. If you drop out, you might have that dream MORE often, I wouldn't risk it...
If you tune in here more often, you'll have the dream many of us have. An FA comes to your house, and after talking to you, the FA offers to pay you 1% of assets to manage his money. You wouldn't want to miss that would you?

That's funny.
A recurring dream I have: A property I own I've forgotten about, and has been vacant for years. I realize this, go visit my property and vagabonds have moved in.
I have this dream at least once per month. I OTOH figured if I read ER enough, penance would be served.

Ha! I invited an Edward Jones guy in after he did the door knocking thing on my front door. The guy was about the same age as my oldest (23) and had absolutely no clue about investments, but was still plugging away on sales.
As it turns out, I was his worst nightmare. As a fatherly figure, I explained to him exactly how his company was stealing money from people like his parents and his spouse. I told him that he should find a better company to work for or even possibly a better career. I even said that I would like to see Edward Jones go out of business after being sued by all their clients that they ripped off. When I let him go, he was ghost white.
