donheff, I shared your pics with my DH and we both think they are wonderful. In particular, your picture with the caption of "it was a scene of rapture" was really something. The expression on that young man's face says so much. I look forward to seeing more of your pictures.

how were the porta potties? not that you could get to them if you were lodged in the crowd!

i was watching cnn wondering why the didnt show the concert but just kept talking then cutting to too many commercials - then heard it was only on hbo..duh glad they are reairing it, got it set to record.

DC is a great city and i'm sure it will be hopping all week, well, until early wed am...at least!

!
We didn't use the porta potties. The ones toward the Capitol were not open yet. There didn't seem to be long lines at the ones down by the concert. I'm not drinking any coffee tomorrow -- no way I am loosing a spot to go to the John.

Something very salty like potato chips or corn chips will help, as well as not drinking anything at all after dinner tonight. Take it from someone who was often the only female oceanographer, on day trips taken on various vessels too small to have a head.

It's going to be pretty cold. Maybe I should wear a wetsuit under my clothes -- I have self warmed my wet suit once or twice.

If you would like to watch the concert, don't get HBO but have a decent Internet connection, you can view an HBO webcast at:
HBO.com: We Are One: Video Player

Caution: it is two hours long

Like the pics.

I do think this inauguration is a bit overdone, I don't remember this level or pomp and cimcumstance in American history. Seems a bit like the Emmys or Golden Globes to me. While I do appreciated the historical significance one would think we are coronating a king. Even electing a new pope pales in comparison.........

So, here's the deal. I got a couple of tickets for up front right behind the seats. So, naturally, I have to give one to DW and one to Sharon (visiting from Maui). David (Sharon's DH) and I get to work out what we can with the 'real people." So DW better come up with good photos. Dave and I will give you a more plebian perspective. Here they are, but not for me:

donheff, you are a good guy lettin' the ladies sit up front with the important folks. I will look forward to your comments and pictures and suspect you and David might do just fine with the regular folks. Cheers!

Don't be a grump. It's a big day for the whole country.

Just wait until he walks across the Reflecting Pool.
