I think Pon farr leads to toe-biting in humans, ferrets and Vulcans and body hair in disgusting places, makes it more likely that you'll end up insane during Pon Farr.

I regret my inability to include doughnuts in the above.

You've lost it, man.

You could have slipped it in as a hairy donut, which is larger on the northern end than the southern end.

It takes 3,000 cows to supply the NFL with enough leather for a year's supply of footballs.

The Straight Dope: Why is a football called a pigskin?

Because calling it a pig's bladder, which is what it actually is (or was), is a bit too real even for football players.

Ten per cent of the salt mined in the world each year is used to de-ice the roads in America.

The sea contains an estimated 40 million, billion tons of salt; If the world's oceans evaporated, enough salt would be crystallized to cover the entire state of new york to a depth of 50 miles.

Its estimated that fear of the number 13 costs the US economy roughly $1B per year.

Think on that the next time someone tells you that they cut $200M out of the budget.

Thats only 20% of what eliminating number 13 would net.

The first computer virus that spread among personal computers was written for an Apple computer and was intended as a practical joke. Unfortunately the joke got out of hand and infected a fairly substantial portion of the contemporary Apple community via a pirated computer game.

You guys must have never seen Bill Gates' first basic interpreter. He was coming around from computer store to computer store trying to sell it.

Least features of any Basic interpreter available, took twice the memory, crashed every 15 seconds, and had a number of functions that were syntactically different than others.

Sound familiar?

Fear of imminent death causes soldiers to make more mistakes than usual when filling in forms.

This was ascertained during the 1960's by putting ten soldiers on a training flight where they were told by the pilot that the aircraft was disabled, and about to ditch in the ocean. They were then required to fill in insurance forms before the crash — ostensibly so the Army was not financially liable for any deaths or injuries.

After completing the form filling, the soldiers were told the truth and their scores compared to similar forms filled out by control groups. The soldiers on the plane made far more mistakes.

Your tax dollars in action...

a little child can identify the difference between a cat and a dog in a fraction of a second but even today's most powerful "super-computer can not make the distinction at all."
