Apparently so.

I thought the world wasn't supposed to end for ~ five million (or is that billion?) years when the sun goes nova.

Why do they always try to pick another date in the very near future?!?!

Like that's more believable when you blew the first one big time?

Their tract is titled "A Strong Likelihood That October 7, 2015 Will be the End of the World". So that covers them when it doesn't happen.

At least this will be over soon. The predictions that are a year or more out give people much more time to do stupid things in preparation. Maybe I'll cheat on my diet for a day, just in case.

Actually at least in Christianity the imminent end of the world has been expected since Pentecost. Early Christians thought that the end of the world would come in their lifetime. (all be it that the roman attack on Jerusalem in ad 70 came close for those from palestine). You find that before 1000 ad there was also a wave of end of the world ideas, as when any comet appears in the sky. (at least until comets became predictable e.g. Halleys). So nothing new with the ideas.

That explains the cryptic message I saw on a neighbor's car's rear windshield. "Jesus is coming and the world is about to end" and some "John 3:16" for good measure. The car was parked right next to their sign advertising $99 pressure washing services.

I really can't figure out why anyone would ever need pressure washing if the world is about to end. "Hey, we'll all be dead but at least our vacated house will have a mildew free exterior!". Fail.

Well we passed the 7th of October. Time for all the end times prognosticators to go back to the drawing board.

A great song poking fun at these predictions - this refers to the 5/21/11 hoo-ha:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_end_times_prediction

Saw them perform it live and Sean Watkins said "Sorry mom & dad, I'm probably going to he11 for writing this song." Somehow I doubt it.
