To be fair to the blobfish, being a gelatinous mass, in water it looks more like a fish than a blob. It only becomes a blob when taken out of the water. People on the other hand... Oh, never mind.

The Marines fought and won most of its brutal Korean War Battles but not without humor...

A Republic of S.Korea Commander's unit was fighting alongside the Marines in one conflict and called Marine Colonel Chesty Puller to report a Chinese attack in his sector...

"How many Chinese are attacking you?" said Puller.

"Many, many Chinese!" replied the Korean officer.

Puller asked for another count and got the same answer, "Many, many, many Chinese!"

"#%$@*^$@#!" swore Puller, "Put my Marine Officer on the radio."

An American voice came over the air: "Yes sir Colonel?"

"Lieutenant," growled Chesty, exactly how many Chinese you got up there?"

"Colonel, we got a whole **** load of Chinese up here!"

"Thank God." said Puller, "At least there's someone up there who knows how to count."

Interesting. They used that in Men in Black 3 (at 1:30). I thought it was made up.

One of my favorite jokes along those lines was while the USSR was collapsing. There was widespread destruction and looting of churches in Moscow; the ikons were being stolen and stained glass windows were smashed.

On hearing this, my friend commented "No icons, no windows? I guess they'll have to say Mass at the prompt."

Their church had a DOS prompt? Lucky sods! At ours we had to interpret the Latin from used computer punch cards that we had cut out of old shoe box lids. And the holes in the shoe box lids left great gaps in the roof to let the rain in.

Not a joke, per se, but the letter to a Singapore paper, and the subsequent inventive responses, is hilarious:

What a hoot!
I always think of Singapore as probably the most highly civilized city on the planet (sometimes a good thing, but not always). It's nice to see how much fun people had with the original letter.
