History of Chocolate Cake Day
Chocolate cake has been with us just over 150 years, having first come on the scene in 1764, when it was discovered that grinding cocoa beans between heavy stones produced cocoa powder, which could then become chocolate. 60 years would pass before Conrad Van Houten discovered a method by which he could mechanically extract fat from the cacao liquor which produced cacao butter. Long story short, this man is the reason that chocolate is actually affordable, and we all have him to thank for it!

Not to mention that chocolate is even more essential to human life than vitamins.

Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

We just polished off the last of a chocolate cake today. DW insists "that's it!" for a while. I dunno, I might sneak another one in.

Finally a holiday I can really get behind! Unfortunately, it looks like it, from behind.

Are these "chocolate cake day" inventers sadists? In January? In the middle of "got to get rid of holiday poundage" diets? Move the date to Dec. 1, and help us all out.....

I know I posted too late, but the low carb diet would not have allowed it anyway....
