Joe Lieberman Loses In Connecticut
Senator Lieberman lost badly to a political novice in the Democratic senate primary. Exit interviews referenced his pro Iraq War stance and support for Pres. Bush.
I'd say this likely means trouble for the Republicans in the fall elections.

Maybe, but I'm not convinced. Democrats who bother to vote in Primaries may not be representative of the average voter who votes in the General election.

Good effing riddance. Joe, throw in the towel: if you go independent, just abut everyone in the party will make it their business to burn you alive.
I'd say that Republicans were in a huge pile of **** (of their own manufacture) long before Lieberman got what he deserved.

Wonder if Karl Rove's made that call yet. "Hey Joe, you wanna switch parties?" That would be interesting.

Lieberman switched parties a couple of years ago. He just didn't bother to do so formally.

I'd say it was the Democratic party that left him. It is run by left wing extremists who only care about maintaining power and shoving abortion, homosexuality, and socialism down everyone's throats.
We really need a 3rd party in this country that is able to look at some of these issues with common sense and build bridges between people who see things differently.

Yeah, where are Ralph Nader & Ross Perot when we really need them?

You should be happy. The extreme right wing is currently running the White House, Congress, and the Supreme Court. Since the country is pretty much in a ditch currently, I think we've tried it your way and are ready for a change!
No one makes you have an Abortion or become a Homosexual - This is all about Freedom which is what our forefathers fought for and the extreme right-wing wants to restrict!

I can pretty much guarantee our forefathers didn't fight for abortion rights.

I agree with you. We desparately need a third party that is viable. Not gonna happen with this country's archaic election laws.
By the way, you left out the part about the Republicans being taken over by right wing extremists who only care about maintaining power and shoving religious and corporate fascism down our throats.

Sorry, my views aren't represented by the extreme right wing either. *Sadly, most of these people are interested in one thing, maintaining their own power. *Bush is no conservative, regardless, he's a big government guy.
Let's take a look at abortion. *Where's the common sense in allowing a 13 year old to get one without at least consulting her parents, getting a basic education about what she is doing, and waiting for 48 hours? *Where is the common sense in forcing a woman who has been raped and impregnated (who doesn't believe that life begins at conception) to have a baby? *Where's the common sense in forcing millions who believe most abortions are morally wrong to subsidize the millions of abortions done for the only reason of convenience? *(I don't see any freedom in that.)
Speaking of freedom, sadly, we abandonded the constitution years ago and gave up many of our freedoms as we gave all sorts of power to the federal government. *The people have abdicated the responsibilities that come with living as a free people in a free society. *

Sorry...I thought my call for a third party indicated I'm not for shoving religious and corporate fascism down our throats.
Interestingly enough, I'm a follower of Jesus (note, that isn't the same thing as a Right Wing Christian Conservative). I could explain a lot more about that, but it would go too far off the topic.

Just tell us your perfect Presidential Candidate and for those that have not figured you out yet, will understand where you are coming from. I would peg you to the far right - As extreme as it gets!
Your call for a third party, to me, means that you don't understand our current political system and why there is only 2 parties.

not really,
http://www.vote-smart.org/issue_rati...an_id=S0141103
he voted for the war, everything else was pretty much straight DNC party line.....
Personally, I will be voting for, and would like to see GRIDLOCK. The gov't that does least, does best.

Hear, hear! Since our government is in control of and involved in way more than it should be, I agree...GRIDLOCK is best.

Rights did women have rights then? At that time a women's option was to take "hemlock" because she couldn't bear the stigma that went with the pregnancy or to have a back room obortion in a filty room. Of coruse if she came from money it was a little better it got "swept under the rug" so to speak.

I would be the prefect candidate, of course. *But since I'm not running, you'll just have to settle for whoever shows up on your ballot.
As far as having me pegged and thinking I don't understand our political system...I'll let you think as wrongly as you like. *
I will say this though. *The issues we face as a nation are far more complex than the soundbites from the Left or the Right and require serious thought and consensus building. *Politicians don't stay in power by seriously thinking about the issues and building consensus. *They stay in power by keeping people ignorant, spoon feeding them what they want them to think, and creating class warfare. *Power, of course, breeds corruption, which is why it should be decentralized as much as possible.

I agree but than why do you toss around soundbites claiming that the Democratic party is controlled by those who want "socialism"? That's hardly "consensus building" (George, is that you?).
Flag burning and homosexuality are smoke and mirrors issues.
