Joys of RV Ownership

The waste water portion of an RV has to be the most beloved system to deal with, especially for cold weather situations. The story below had me laughing so hard my ribs hurt.

Ahhh - that was indeed pretty gross!

Don't know why he felt the need to dump his tanks with things frozen. Better just to wait for warmer conditions.

I'm glad we don't RV way north during the winter. Never had to worry about anything freezing as long as I disconnected any outdoor hoses.

Now if we could just figure out how to fix our window leak, I'd be a happy camper!

Lots of black tank horror stories. How about having your black tank overflow inside your coach? Does it get any grosser than that? http://www.irv2.com/forums/f104/blac...low-17458.html

Or things right out of movies:

I am also unsure what he was thinking. How could he not invest in the "pink" stuff at the first hint of winter -- the cost of repairs to the plumbing would only be slightly less than the cost of a new rig.

We have used our RV at quite frigid temperatures without concern for frozen tanks. In fact, we plan to again vist the northwest part of Wyoming around the 15th of January -- I expect below zero nights.

When we were in Dallas a couple weeks ago there were several below 20° nights. Perhaps "North" is anything above the Tropic of Cancer as George (of Ms Tioga fame) believes.

Well, Ron, the temperature where he lives seldom drops below freezing. I might add that grey/black water contains enough salts that it doesn't freeze at 32F, or even 31F.

Don't trust me, check this. Happy motoring!

Back when we had a trailer with no basement heating, we would pour some pink stuff into the waste tanks to keep the valves from freezing in colder temps. In our current rig with heated basement, we don't even do that. Been camping with overnights in the very low teens - no problems.

Talking about Joys of RVing as we cross country trek from GA back to south TX.

Shout-out to LA FIRE folks - especially W2R and UncleMick.

We overnighted in Hammond LA. At the CampingWorld in fact. Pulled in before noon to wait out that heavy rain system that covered LA most of the day. Looks like two other RVs + tow did the same. One has already left this morning at 5:30 a.m. We'll be heading out soon so that we can get through Baton Rouge before morning rush hour - hopefully. Maybe not too many folks working today on New Years Eve. We gotta get around Houston today too! Hopefully (fingers crossed). We'll see....
