Just Do It

The title of a new book by a journalist and his wife (and parents of two small kids) writing about their marathon of love, 101 consecutive days of Sex.

Just Do It Fox news story

When most people train for a marathon, sex toys, pornography and Brazilian waxes are not part of the preparation.
However, Doug and Annie Brown’s marathon was a little different. The Boulder, Colo., couple – who had already been married for 11 years – were about to embark upon a marathon of 101 consecutive days of sex.
...
The marathon’s benefits were overwhelming. Although their marriage was never really suffering, the marathon had renewed a spark and reminded them of the key ingredient that some couples tend to forget about – communication.

“I really think we communicate so much clearer and with so much more honesty (now),” Annie said. “There were so many times before that we hadn’t even hugged for like three days in a row. We gravitate toward rubbing each others’ backs more. We realize how important it is to put the kids to bed and spend time together.”

“I would love to see this conversation in every home in America,” Annie said. “Gay, straight, with kids or without – this is a conversation that people shrink from and yet it’s so important. Once you stop making love to your partner, you become roommates. Whether it’s five times a month, or three times a month, just being comfortable with that number is most important.”

Communication? Sure, uh huh....

Whatever! You'd think they'd get more out of 101 straight days of sex than that. But as long as they had fun!

I bet that is so wonderful to hug 3 days in a row. Imagine all that wonderful talking and cuddling. Just perfect.

Seems like these come out from time to time. Another couple wrote a book about sex every day for a year: http://www.independent.ie/lifestyle/...e-1452364.html

A church suggesting sex everyday as a solution to high divorce rates: http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/wayof....ap/index.html

In India, sex everyday keeps doctors away (too bad we just use apples): http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/L...ow/3334523.cms

I thought I saw a story about a couple who counted and was going for something like 1000 times in a year, but I cannot seem to find that reference. I think they were writing a book too, but maybe they had trouble finding time to finish it.

I like the 26-year old single guy that they interviewed that thinks his future wife is going to be so impressed with him giving up "booty calls" right now for a whole 30 days

Isn't there some sort of test that goes something like this...

For the first year that you are married, you put a penny in a jar each time you have sex. After the first year you take out a penny each time you have sex. The jar will never empty.

You are wrong: For the first year you are DATING, you put a penny in a jar each time you have sex. After you get married, you take a penny out each time you have sex, and you end up leaving a nice inheritance for your kids........

My 75 yo FIL had watched Dr. Oz on Oprah and was more than excited to ask if I knew how many times a year the "average" couple had sex each year.....uhhhhh....he couldn't remember....but he DID remember that Dr. Oz said that FOR HEALTH REASONS a couple should have sex....200 times a years.....

Then he smiles and says...."guess my days are numbered"....had to laugh....but then thought...hmmmm.....mine too

Alright now, don't make have to clean up my own thread! Karo syrup? um, no.
I did think this part of the story was cute, though:

When I was around Annie in the evening, especially if I thought sex loomed (and during the marathon, it would loom over everything), arousal arrived like an intern on his first day at the firm: eager, earnest, attentive and bouncy with vigor ... Annie, on the other hand didn’t have an intern. She depended on a motley crew of part-timers who had to be called.
