Kiddos Update! Pictures
Hey everybody, remember this?
http://www.early-retirement.org/foru...r-25501-3.html
I thought those of you who participated might like an update! Olivia Grace is doing quite well, and is definitely testing us. Smart and lively, sweet and kind yet fiery in temper when she doesn't like something. There is no weeping with this young lady, she just tells you off something fierce. I'm a little concerned I won't be able to keep up. Tori has learned to say, read and sign the alphabet, which considering her Down Syndrome and 3 years of age we were impressed. Olivia, however, has already gotten a good start on this. Tonight she said and signed "A..B..C" - she's 13 months. Uh oh. She already breaks through child locks and just about anything else. A future engineer, methinks.
Horsing around in Tori's room
Enjoying the beach
Dad's o.k. in her book.

I'm buying a shotgun now - sigh - I love how this picture captures her usual look at me, like she knows she owns me!

With Big Sister
Tori had heart surgery (part of why I took a break here) and is doing very well, here she is cutting a rug at a friend's birthday party:
She's a great big sister, and Down Syndrome is just one thing about her, not the only thing. Here she is playing parachute.
Kids will amaze you, as long as you keep your expectations high.
Good job on the naming, Meadbh and Coach, and all others who voted!

Great pictures what cuties. Just wait. We have a 6yr old daughter and she's getting into friends. Breaks my heart when the other girls are mean to her (bitaches). She just doesn't understand that's how girls are. Oh well I try to stay out of it until she comes home crying then she's daddy's girl!

Yeah, right, like you won't be paying college expenses with a couple of cuties like that. All it'll take is a couple of wide-eyed blinks and a "Pleeeaase, Daddy."

Your girls are precious, Lawrence. Glad that Tori came through her surgery well.
I think both of them will keep you busy in their own ways. Signing at such a young age....WOW.

He's all DONE, and I mean that in the nicest way possible.............
Good thing I have boys, I have now earned the title of the "big guy who yells a lot"........... If I had a couple girls like you, I would be softer than butter left in the Florida sun.........

I can't believe Olivia is 13 mos old already. It seems like only yesterday you were announcing the pregnancy and asking for comments on names. You look to be raising two happy little girls.

Reminds me of a country song getting play right now. The chorus goes:
Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she's something else
She's her daddy's girl
Her momma's world
She deserves respect
That’s what she'll get
Ain’t it son?
Hey y'all run along and have some fun
I'll see you when you get back
Bet I’ll be up all night
Still cleanin' this gun
Very cute kids! I also have a little girl, so I can relate. I have a boy, too; hopefully no overzealous Dad shoots him.

I don't think the order makes any difference as long as both holes are large enough...

I have a teenage sister and teenage sister in law. The sister is dating a drifting worthless bum who the best thing I can say about him is at least she's in charge and he's afraid of her. My SIL is dating an honors student who is polite and engaging, and comes from a cultured family who insists they both will be going to college. They shower her with presents and insist they are never left alone in their house in case he should get any ideas.
Long story short, I won't shoot the first guy that shows up, I'll check him against the SIL's guy and if he doesn't measure up, then I'll shoot him!
I think the best thing you can do is instill in your daughters a sense they should be respected and valued, so they won't put up with crap. You can't be there 24 hours a day.
