Laundry Soap For a Lifetime, part 2

A revisit from previous thread...

http://www.early-retirement.org/foru...ime-51067.html

I had a chance to brew a liquid version:

The Simple Dollar » How To Make Your Own Laundry Detergent – And Save Big Money

The Moonshine is all mixed. Tomorrow, will see how well this compares to the powdered version.

May work OK if you have very soft water. Any soap based product will fail miserably in water that has any significant dissolved Ca++.

Not a chemist here, so don't know what the heck Ca++ means.

Anyhow, after a couple of loads...new Moonshine seems to work fine for me.

I think the layperson's term for it is "lime". Dissolved calcium carbonate from well water.

If it is working for you, the water hardness is not a problem in your area.

That's fortunate since you have a lifetime supply and no good way to dipped of it.
