Re: Maybe this will tempt CFB back to the forum

I don't know about others here, but I take extended breaks from discussion forums all the time. It helps me to keep things in perspective. Lots of 'hot' topics get discussed here and everyone has an opinion, so it is very easy to find or give offense. The real world is much more exciting anyway!

Thanks for the heads up on this. We have a Dell Laptop bought 12/2005 and did not know about this. Hopefully, we will receive the info by mail or email from Dell.

Think he's retired from the forum to spend more time with his family.

Re: Maybe this will tempt CFB back to the forum

I don't see what the fuss is about. CFB had an opinion on everything, whether of material value or not. Perhaps a case of posting burnout.

Nothing wrong with taking a break from dozens of posts per day, but there is also nothing wrong with moderation in posting and posting only on those things that add value.

As if any of us are capable of recognizing those criteria...

Don't hold your breath waiting for Dell to contact you---go to dell.com and enter keyword "recall."* They have it set up so you can check your battery # to determine if it is a fire bomb.

Try a self-imposed diet of 5 or 10 posts a day. That will help pick and choose what is most important (to the poster).

They have set up a special Web site for recall lookups: https://www.dellbatteryprogram.com/

I think a lot of his posts were simply him having to have the last word with some anonymous person baiting and trolling...sometimes I thought we could all learn from it….since he always said that he would never work again….but maybe folks need a little stimulation or something to engage….esp. the hard driver types on this forum….and you wonder why some of these guys still have a spouce working….

Re: Maybe this will tempt CFB back to the forum

CFB is full of knowledge, words, and energy. Not like most of us laid-back ERs With a lot to say on most subjects, it was lucky for us he could write well. His Type-A style only occasionally bothered me--but he has a cute & fuzzy side, too, especially where his family is concerned. He provided an outsized portion of the "infotainment" around here. I miss his commentary--and seeing Gabe's picture. It's been fun watching Tori and Gabe grow up!

I watched one of my favorite movies a few nights ago: Lone Star. Much of the movie is spent remembering a dead guy, Buddy Deeds, who was larger than life. Reading this thread about CFB/TH/() reminds me of Buddy Deeds.

I was hoping my battery qualified since it only has about 30 minutes of use.
But alas Heratio, it doth not match.

Re: Maybe this will tempt CFB back to the forum

I'm not sure, but I may have the answer to why we've not heard from "Cute Fuzzy Bunny".

I got an email today, don't know exactly who it was from. There was no message, just this photo with the caption "The Last Photo Taken By CFB"....
