MFing TMF
Looks like I have been booted from TMF for tickling the censors. Its probably temporary, but I may not bother going back. I am tired of being spanked by censors just because someone doesn't like what Ihave to say.
I appreciate the generally genteel atmosphere here and the gentle touch the moderators use. Sorry if I have been cantankerous and troublesome lately.

I hope you don't pay for TMF. This place is free and has better advice.

Heh, I've never paid. Comped from day one to this very day. They don't comp = I am gone.

Re: MFing TMF
I still use MF. The noise to signal ratio is getting worse on their retire early board but there are other useful boards that I would miss. And there is the occasional gem of entertainment as well. I expect I will not renew when my subscription runs out as this place suits me better, particularly for RE advice and entertainment too.
But when talking to people newly interested in financial issues I suggest they get their free month of MF but avoid ALL the financial service packages from MF and just look at the web boards.

Re: MFing TMF
I never thought you as the cantankerous sort Brewer - you're always the voice of reason around here - or maybe its all relative
I soured on TMF when they insisted I'd already had a trial subscription, which I know I never used, and after 2-3 personal e-mails they totally refused to give me one more month I figured F-em.
I read their free ads newsletter.

Re: MFing TMF
Their REIT board is still a valuable resource, particularly
the posts from "Reitnut", who wrote "The Essential REIT"
(updated several times). The tone is very civil and they
are always helpful to new posters.
I initially became interested in REITs around 97 from
Value Line (already setting my "growing income" port-
folio), but never really understood REITs until I read
the MF REIT board (and the aforementioned book).
It is really too bad how the rest of the site (besides the
message boards) has degenerated from a DIY advocate
and primer to a newsletter tout-sheet. Virtually every one
of their articles nowadays pushes one or more of their
paid products. I understand the reasons why, I just
miss the old days (of 1997-2002).

Re: MFing TMF
Hi CyclingInvestor,
Thats exactly how I feel about TMF. Your 3 paragraphs characterize the sad evolution of TMF better than my crude one-liner. Its too bad.

Re: MFing TMF
For those of you who may not be aware of the history of this forum, Dory36 created this free board in part as a response to TMF starting to charge for membership.
As someone mentioned in another post, this holiday season is a good time to remember those who provide you a free place to waste time make your life better by sending Dory a small (or large ) token of your appreciation. You can do so by clicking on the link on the FireCalc results page.

You've got that right!* People are allowed to gang up on others and flame away in order to collect "recs", especially in the LBYM forum.* So junior high school-ish.* I'll never go back.
We like you better here, Brewer, dreadlocks and all.
To Dory: Thank you for this wonderful place.

Heheh, the funny thingg is that in real life I am a clean cut white guy you wouldn't give a second glance to, although I have to admit I try to stretch the days between shaving as much as possible.

Isn't it funny how the avatar sort of gives you an involuntary mental image of people??
Sorry Cube-rat!
