Miscellaneous Pictures

Got inspired to post a few pictures.*

Here's a gig we had last Saturday -- it was cold with 50 MPH wind gusts, but we had fun anyway.*

Snack time last week, 10 miles down the road from us:

Here's wood that I got from downed trees during the January storm.* The shed has four rows of wood.* I do about 2 hours of splitting every other day -- very rewarding.

This is what's left over from last year's supply, plus a few pallets that need to be sawn up.* The pallets are free, and each can heat the house for most of a day:

T-Al: Where's the beach located? Yes, I would agree the pictures look a little chilly .

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures

I used to heat my house in the mountains exclusively with wood. You have a goldmine with all that wood.

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

nice pics. Something about a wood pile gives great pride and free wood sure does satisfy that frugal inner child.

I really like the second picture of you sitting on the rocks. Something about staring at the ocean/water has always facinated me.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures

In my new-found paranoia about Internet anonymity, I don't want to say where the beach is, sorry.

Yes, we heat the house entirely with wood. I may squeak by without purchasing any wood for next year. I'll see what it looks like when I get all that wood split. If there isn't enough it means more pallets. I used about two cords so far this year -- the average winter temp is only about 45 degrees.

I probably brought home and cut up about 30 pallets this year. The wood's great (usually oak), but it gets a bit tedious to saw them up. Probably takes about 8 minutes per pallet.

Apparently you are unfamiliar with my friend, the 20lb sledgehammer/mauler.

I could reduce about 50 of those to kindling in about 15 minutes. And even have fun doing it!

Dude, you're just worried that a bunch of tourists are going to crowd the lineup at your favorite break & trash the beach... we understand.

Did I mention that there are lots of great whites here (a few shark attacks every year), and that the water is barely above freezing?

I think your anonymity is safe-- as far as I can tell, you've just described most of the California coastline!
