DF is literally scared of them. Some I found amusing, mostly ones in suits.

There can't be a clown shortage. There were enough where I worked to satisfy global needs for the next millennium.

Over 500 applicants for 11 openings. Doesn't sound like a shortage of aspiring clowns. Kind of like many other workplaces.

It's really hard to find good "qualified" clowns these days. Oh sure - many have tried and failed.

- You be the judge ! Which would make the better clown ?

Now who was scared of Clarabell? Not the peanut gallery!

Buffalo Bob: Oh, who's the funniest clown you know?
Peanut Gallery: CLARABELL!
Buffalo Bob: And Who's the clown on Howdy's show?
Peanut Gallery: CLARABELL!
Buffalo Bob: Well, his feet are big, his tummy's stout, but we could never do without.
Everybody: CLARA-CLARA-CLAR-A-BELL!

My favorite clowns are the ones trapped in the rodeo ring.

Wasn't there some Twilight Zone episode with a clown? Maybe I'm confusing it with Talkie Tina.

Either way, they scared the heck out of me.
