Money drop scam
The money drop scam is when someone drops money in front of you then waits for you to pick it up. I was in eastern Europe when this happened to me. If you pick it up someone immediately comes up to you and accuses you of taking their money . About this time a cop [fake cop] appears on the scene and asks to see your wallet thinking you already put some money in of theirs in it. They have fast hands and can take money out of your wallet and it is impossible to prove especially if you do not speak the language well. They were not bothered with credit cards , just cold hard cash. This happened to me again on another trip and my older but wiser self did not pick up the money. The man who dropped it seemed frustrated and I just kept walking away. So this can happen anywhere and please be aware of this scam. If someone drops money do not pick it up!
