You have to go to restaurants to have good meals, because you simply cannot do the same at home.

A penny saved is a penny earned. (guess they didn't have income tax when that was thought up).

You shouldn't eat pizza and take a shower at the same time.

Not true if you have something as low-tech as an umbrella. Or perhaps if you have a low-mounted shower head.

But why does it have to be pizza and not some other food? Does it make a difference if I want to eat spaghetti or a bowl of Pho while showering?

Right, which is why I stated it in a thread titled "Myths we live by!"

It was a myth that I mistakenly believed until one day when I was both extremely hungry and extremely dirty after an attempt to summit Kings Peak in Utah. I was trying to decide which need to address first, and finally figured out I could do both at the same time. It was an epiphany.

It just happened to be pizza in my case. I suppose the myth is equally untrue for many other foods.

More in line with the OP list, a major myth that leads to many relationship issues is that Emotions/feelings are somehow intrinsically valid and if you make me feel bad, it is your fault.

We color every situation and our perception of it through the filter of our past experiences and beliefs. We alone are responsible for our feelings. No one can make you feel bad without your willing participation

To the OP, thank you....I had not heard of DBT before. Lately i've been reading about the "neuroplasticity" of the brain....that is an interesting subject and it looks like much of the research is relatively recent.

heh heh heh - seemed like a good idea at the time. Pun intended. Don't guess which is which. I mean otherwise I wouldn't whine.

If a person is a jealous control freak they love you. If they hit you but are sorry you made them do it that proves they love you.

I once lived by a myth, but then we got married, and now she's a myth-ess.
