My friend has the educational qualifications and some related experience but yet she will not measure up in this situation. I also don't want to tell any lies because I meet with her regularly for dinner/drinks and wouldn't want anything to creep up to haunt me! Great advice, everyone.
That being the case - I'd approach this as guiding her in the right direction. Focus on where her knowledge and experience provides her with the best opportunity. You could add how the area she asked you to submit the CV is a high pressure place - she might get the message it isn't the right place for her.

Good luck.

Reminds me of tenant history checks. You don't want to talk to their current landlord-- you want to talk to one of their landlords who hopes he never has to deal with them again.
That is so funny, Nords! I've given glowing recommendations for people that I hoped to be forever out of my hair. Sure, she was a hard worker, you bet, wish we weren't downsizing or we'd have held on to her.
