I have been doing a bunch of deferred jobs. I need to sharpen my drill twist bits- hardened steel, not carbide. I have up to 1/2" bits. My friend used to sharpen them for me freehand. He was great, but I couldn't seem to get the skill, and now he has passed on.

I have a bench grinder- is there a jig, or even a standalone tool that will do a good job on drill bits?

I hate to throw them away and start over, it just doesn't feel very workmanlike.

The best maintenance guy that ever worked for me swore by the "Drill bit Doctor" or something that sounds like that. Was featured in Family Handyman in the past 12 months. Little pricey (over$100) but it is rigged to handle all the angles needed. I was even able to use it correctly.

Thanks guys. That Dr. is pricey, but I will have a look.
