OK - didn't know about the BBC original....

For some reason we are getting Spanish language captions on the show. And they are excellent translations - especially for the colloquial phrases - so it adds a whole other dimension to the entertainment.

If you want some lighthearted entertainment try Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Someone told me it was kinda-sorta adult and good animated color. It was.

This was a line from the original BBC trilogy version of House of Cards available in DVD from Netflix. It was quite different so one could easily watch both versions.

Really? I started watching it and didn't last 5 minutes before I turned it off. Maybe it gets better?

A lot of this light entertainment taste is highly subjective.

Back in the 90's I became good friends with a senior manager in Corporate who was a fan of the original House of Cards, and sometimes when I would ask if a rumor was true, he would answer, "Some might say that, but I couldn't possibly comment".

I'm going to watch episode 1 of the new season 3 tonight.....

Finished episode 2 of season 1 tonight, and it's amazing how they create this ambience and just draw you right in. The soothing yet ominous music helps. I feel like a fly on the wall. But it's all so calm - not frenetic like other shows in this genre.

I told DH "Let's see what that silver-tongued southern dude has to say" and he had no idea what show I was wanting to watch. LOL!

Get Low (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Get Low is a 2009 drama film directed by Aaron Schneider, written by Chris Provenzano and C. Gaby Mitchell, and starring Robert Duvall, Bill Murray, Sissy Spacek, Lucas Black, Gerald McRaney, Bill Cobbs, Arin Logan, Lori Beth Edgeman, Andrea Powell, Rebecca Grant, Scott Cooper and Chandler Riggs.

Gave it 5 stars. Duvall is one amazing actor.

watched this last night. It was beautifully done, and the ending actually made me cry, which movies rarely do.

I've started watching and enjoying The White Queen, available on streaming.

Docudrama focused on Elizabeth Woodville who was England's first King's consort to be made queen since 1066. She went on to become the grandmother of Henry VIII and great grandmother of Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I. In fact she is the ancestor of every English monarch since Henry VIII and every Scottish monarch since James V.

History aside it is a ripping story of love, lust, politics and war set in the 15th century. (She is also the mother of the "Princes in the Tower")

Sounds right up my alley! Thanks!

I already know exactly who Elizabeth Woodville was.
