Staying in

Just closed out our 2013 spreadsheets, and built the shells for 2014. We've not gone out in many years, we typically give up, are are fast asleep by 1030. I know, we're wild ones...

Happy New Year Friends!

Heading over to friends house with the kids. Expect to be home by 10:30 and will wait for the ball to drop. What a great year 2013 has been and here's to a healthy and prosperous 2014.

Cheers,

I'm home, drinking, and watching the Twilight Zone marathon on the Sci Fi channel. Happy New Year everybody! Have fun, but stay safe...don't get wished off into the cornfield, or take that stop at Willoughby, don't let Robert Redford in no matter how much he begs, and for heaven's sake you'd better be nice to Talky Tina!

We went to the cinema, then had a simple dinner out.

All I'm hearing is gunfire. I guess people don't even bother with fireworks any more. (barely rural Georgia)

We went to our local Seafood Place which is about five minutes from our house. We ate & had a few wines.Tomorrow we will have steaks on the grill and I will put the black beans & ham bone in the crock pot to make black bean soup.

Another home body on NYE. Yrs ago DW & I gave up rolling the dice with all the drunk (or just "buzzed") drivers. Just a quiet late dinner & small glass or 2 of bubbly around MN.
In AM its off to local home improvement store collecting supplies for next project.

I'm staying home like I have done for the last 30 or 35 years. New year's Eve is so 1972. I'm ready to go to bed, I'm tired.

But we always go out, since it's our anniversary dinner. It's nice that everyone puts on parties for us.
New Year's Eve was also my parents' wedding anniversary. They got married on the last day of 1951. I don't know why they chose that date, perhaps for a tax deduction, or because it was available. Why did the Midpacks choose New Year's Eve to get married?

Generally stay home. I don't want to be on the roads with all the drunks, esp if I might be one of them! And we are getting snow tonight.

We sometimes get together with people in the subdivision, driving a few blocks at most. Mostly a fancy dinner in. It was steak and lobster tails tonight, it was hectic, my timing was way off, but still everything got to the table done near perfectly. Sweet, succulent lobster, medium rare steak, and even DW chose my home brew over wine or commercial beer.

4:00 PM: The Duchess of redduck and I went out and brought in some Chinese food for dinner, planning to eat around 8:00 PM. Ate most of the Chinese food by 5:00 PM. The Duchess then had eggnog and rum and nutmeg. I took a two-hour nap. Woke up and watched an episode of Castle (tv show). Went to the ER board to see Meadbh's profile. Only found a few numbers and facts re: Meadbh, but not her profile. So, I still don't know what she looks like from the side. Anyhow, I'm going to have my eggnog, rum and nutmeg. Not sure if I'll be awake at 12. Don't much care, either. Happy New Year to you all.
I remain,
redduck

Yeah, we were watching the game and saw A & M pull it out (50 - 48)!

It's actually Jan 1 for us, but we start celebrating on NYE knowing we'll be awake for our anniversary at midnight - 34th this year.

I got an unexpected job relocation/promotion that Dec so we had to move up our wedding (employer would not pay relocation for "us" unless married) but we held off until Jan 1 as it saved us $800 in taxes for the prior year. Romantic huh?

Happy Anniversary, Midpack!

And for you Young Dreamers, this is one of the keys to FIRE -- pick the right spouse and stick with her/him.
