Well, I for one am just super happy that this serious subject has taken my mind off of those less important things that have been taking up TV news-space: ISIS, Baltimore, Dallas shootings, plane crashes etc etc.

Nothing like being tried in the court of public opinion/mob rule.

Worst case scenario: Brady sits out 4 games and the Pats lose them all. Brady gets a big fat raise because they can't win without him.

Best case scenario: Brady sits out 4 games and they win them all. Everyone goes nuts trying to figure out how they cheated to win those games.

"Possibly, more likely than not": Brady gets ring #5 and the country hates the Pats even more.

He's at a speaking engagement tonight just down the road from me. I'll ask him what he thinks!

Good thing this is being tried only in the court of public opinion and not an actual legal proceeding. This would get laughed out of Judge Judy's forum.

BTW I don't blame Brady for not giving his cell phone to the leaky NFL security..........
True, it's not a "court of law," but the NFL does have a commission to make and enforce rules and regulations. (That's why Goodell is called the Commissioner.) The owners give it authority to act on their behalf. Including the authority to investigate and make findings regarding alleged violations of NFL rules. The burden of proof here is "preponderance of the evidence"--which is widely used in virtually all courts of law in civil proceedings. That standard does not "get laughed out of court." That's the basis of Wells's "more probable than not" language.

Now back to our regular programming.

I hate the Spurs because they always beat my Mavs, but I respect the Spurs. They are a great team and play with class. I hate the Pats and have no respect for them at all. They have been caught cheating multiple times which means they have most likely cheated many more times and not been caught.
They are not the only team that violated the rules. Most recently the Browns and Falcons were assessed fines and suspensions for infractions.

I would have liked more solid evidence against the PATS after a 108 day investigation. I understand you and a lot of other folks outside NE hate them because they have been the most successful team of the last 15 years.

This will just be a motivation for them to win their 5th SB regardless of football PSI.

Megacorp did. I watched multiple people walked out the door. Basically anything that demonstrated lack of integrity you did the walk.

Could you imagine the league's season opener against the Steelers in a nationally televised game with Jimmy Grappolo as the starting QB? I'll bet NBC won't be too happy about it.

I don't hate the Pats because they have been so successful. I hate them because they cheat and I hate them because the NFL favors them. Ive never seen so many roughing the passer calls as I do when someone breathes on Brady. Not to mention that Brady is the biggest crybaby in the NFL. All of that takes away from their success in everyone's (except pats fans) eyes.

That site is a joke. They have ridiculous things that every teams does listed as cheating. Like when a player fakes an inury to stop the clock.

Just posted a few hours ago, reading in part:

Quote:
After the scandal broke in the early morning hours of January 19, according to the report, there was a significant uptick in communication between Brady and Jastremski. Investigators found this suspicious. Jastremski, who was in charge of preparing balls for game day, hadn't talked to Brady over the phone or exchanged texts with him in six months going into January 19. Over the next 72 hours, according to phone records, they talked on the phone eight times and exchanged 15 texts.

The texts show Brady continually checked up on Jastremski after the scandal broke, talked to him multiple times a day, and even invited him to the quarterback meeting room to talk for the first time in Jastremski's 20 years with the team.

I love how Pats fans think everyone who is NOT a Pats fan is a "hater", assuming they've never been a fan of other successful teams.

Maybe they could place an asterisk in the book with a footnote: "Indianapolis Colts accused New England Patriots of cheating".

Well, the preponderance of the evidence suggests they DID cheat (again). That they didn't need to cheat to win, or win big even, isn't really relevant, much like it's not relevant whether Pete Rose's gambling ever impacted the result of a game on the field.

They couldn't beat them on the field losing 6 games in a row with the last 4 by a combined score of 189-73.

They will meet again in week 6 next season. Can't wait........

I really did think the Broncos would be there. They did beat New England.

If anyone wants to laugh at teams I support, they are welcome to join the thread with this calendar year in the title!

I vote that for Brady's punishment that the Pats footballs for the next Colts game be inflated to 14.5 PSI. That'll teach him.

This whole thing is ridiculous and the Patriot haters' vitriol is even more ridiculous.

The PATS beat the Broncos last year 43-21 at Gillette. I was at that game

The biggest difference between the Patriots and the other 2 teams who did it was that New England ran between 150 and 200 MORE plays this year than those teams did in the years they had zero home fumbles, making the Patriots stand alone in this unique statistic.
Today, May 7, Sharp posted this update: 'The Wells Report May Have Uncovered the Tip of the Iceberg'

Quote:
...In the meantime, I still hold firm in my position (which is further supported by this report) that something happened in the 2007 season which began to aide the Patriots in preventing fumbles, and that carried on thru the 2014-15 season. I don’t believe the NFL has any desire to attempt an investigation back that far, nor do I believe they could find any evidence of anything significant. But then again, I didn’t think the Wells report would result in any key findings or punishment.

The Patriots may have simply learned a new way to hold the football starting in 2007, and it wasn’t until 2014 that they started deflating footballs. I (still) won’t say the Patriots became fumble-proof because of deflated footballs, because I don’t know. I only have the data, and the data says “something” happened. If, what the Wells report found from 2014 began to happen as early as 2007, than his report may have uncovered only the tip of the iceberg.
I am eager to see what rule changes the NFL makes regarding the footballs for the 2015 season, and if NE's fumble stats fall back into the "normal range."

I wonder why people who love the Pats think that anybody how says they are cheaters and they should be punished are called 'haters'.... heck, I like the Pats over many other teams... I just think cheaters should be punished... and when they do something again should be punished hard...

And if there is a third time.... well, I would take them out a full season.... coach and QB....(if they were the guilty ones)....

Maybe this thread should have been allowed to die a peaceful natural death by the end of March.
