Nudity Added to Traditional Texas Concerns

Yep. I think this quote sums it all up pretty well...

“...knowing Texas, the way things work here” she said of the teacher’s suspension, “I wasn’t really amazed. I was like, ‘Yeah, right.’ ”

Although the lines have blurred somewhat over the past several years, the state has traditionally been divided into two general areas: the predominately WASP-ish, dry (no, not the climate) Northeast, and the predominately Catholic, hispanic (with a strong mix of German & Polish) lemme-buy-you-a-beer Southwest. Guess where this took place....

I may be learn to tolerate scorpions, rattle snakes, hurricanes, heat, humidity and the rest of the reasons on REWahoo's list for not moving to Texas.

Have to thing a bit more on this one though!

Yep. My first take after reading the article was, "We have art museums??!!"

The ones I go to just have pictures of neked horses. ::)

Oh that was embarrassing! I'm pretty used to being embarrassed these days....

Yep, I went to the museum last Saturday on free day. There it was, a huge painting of a naked women. I was appalled. DW went on to another painting, but I lingered to be further appalled.

This is nonsense, or course. We're talking art here, not porno. I guess teachers will have to send a release slip home to the parents. The kid doesn't bring written parental approval back, the kid doesn't go. Sad that two prominent organizations have to be pacified. One is the hypocritical religious bunch and the other is the lawyers. By suspending her the school was just CYA-ing, IMHO, in case the outraged parent sued.

Another Texas perspective on this... It's totally stupid!

Haven't heard anyone think that the Teacher should have been canned, much less berated.

I think it is a symptom of today's PC times. PC has become irrational. In an attempt to "not offend anyone", any objection can lead to the destruction of any activity. And it's not just the original objector, not at all. It is the people who suddenly pick up the sword, and lead a charge against this "new menace". Acting like they are on a mission of life or death. They have become the enablers of these irrational activities. The media loves it, particularly the TV media.
