So if I buy a hybrid and get 10 miles more per gallon I still lose money over 7 years compared to my 4 banger camry at 18 K Since the markup on say a Prius is 25K 7 K more for the car.
Oh but you use less gas! You are helping to save the environment

That is true. If we were to take any action like this, I'd like to see it phased in gradually (like over the *past* 30 years). People would adjust over time, like consider the distance for that new job, etc.

My concern is that if we do *nothing*, we will see some really sharp changes in prices, and that will hurt the little guy more than a gradual increase that could be adapted to over time.

I'm sure the next administration will get on this right after they simplify taxes .

Are you ready for the perfect gasoline price storm?? A hurricaine in the gulf like Katrina/Rita of 05, More BS in Nigeria and from the idiot in venezula, Iran doing its ugly middle eastern stuff and the summer driving season, with the price of crude starting at 105 dollars a barrel. Wow wee... I bet gasoline prices would run up towards 5 and 6 bucks a gallon, and if we have a democrat in the white house with the democrats running both the house and senate, they would enact price controls which would then lead to major shortages and gasoline lines ...

Fun again, Glad I am ER'd!

That is what 101 a barrel will do to gasoline prices. Can ya wait for 4 dollar gas?
