Old Fashioned Egg Nog

I was tossing out an empty carton of egg nog purchased as the store, when I noticed it said in prominent letters "Old Fashioned". So, out of some strange form of curiosity I inspected the ingredients. Among the things found in their egg nog were artificial flavors, carrageenan, guar gum, and mono and diglycerides. Oh, and corn syrup instead of sugar.

I doubt if either of them added any of the above to their egg nog. Anything additional they added was probably alcoholic - rum and bourbon most likely.

Well this is what Alton Brown says about what's in eggnog. We have some extra eggs I accidentally bought, yum.

Our daughter who is making more things and buying less, made a GREAT eggnog. She said it was fairly easy. Likely a similar recipe that MRG posted. It's been great to have fresh, homemade stuff more often.
