It seems that his organization's recruiting tactic was to go to mosques and recruit people that were religious or newly converted and persuade them to join up in the name of religion.

I am sure that painting him as a religious hypocrite, if successful, might dissuade future recruits. It would show his actions to be either selfish (revenge oriented or being the big man) or politically motivated.

But, because this information comes from a biased source (the USA) as far as the middle east is concerned, it will probably do little to change the views of his followers.

The people who view him as a serial killer will say "ah hah"... he was a hypocrite.

His followers will say it is a lie.

Hopefully it will demoralize his organization further while they are reeling from the news of his death..... of course, many may believe it to be false.

I think the biggest value of that intel is the disruption to the organization.... lists of names, locations, operational methods, future plans and ideas, etc...

OTOH I'd hate to learn that the porn industry is just a front for funding terrorism.

That would be bad, but I could live with it provided they skipped the part about shooting us in the face first.

The jokes are good, though. Carry on.

If they were looking for an invented cheap shot you'd think they would have discovered kiddie porn.

@Nords Agree wih you. Those who have never had porn in their homes can laugh. The rest of us-well whatever. There is no evidence it was Osama's but with three wives and his age makes sense.

As Churchill said In time of war, when truth is so precious, it must be attended by a bodyguard of lies

So I honestly don't care if it is true or not. It helps reinforce the story that OBL was a hypocrite living in relative comfort with his 3 young wives, while his followers are out dodged airstrikes and predator drones. A vain man who dyed his beard and enjoyed porn while preaching the west defiled woman by letting them be seen in public in immodest dress. If only a handful of prospective martyrs are turned off by his actions, it is a worthwhile exercise.

What caught my attention was a reported comment, "This is not unusual." Evidently repressed sexuality leads to prurient interests.

I'll admit to a lack of numerical experience (see below), but I fail to see where three wives = repressed sexuality.

I'm having a hard time understanding why there is so much information coming our way about a supposed very secret operation. Let's see:
1. We pretty much give an inventory of what was taken. So every person in OBL's rolodex is scurrying to change their phone number and destroy their hard drives.
2. We tell the method by which we tracked him. So meanwhile the other Al-Qaeda big wigs are changing couriers and moving out of walled Pakistani villas.
3. Listing the unit and homebase of the Seals involved. Why not go ahead and give names and addresses.

I wish the talking heads would STFU (of course that is after they divulged the porn .

How much of that which is being leaked is by design? If the rats start scurrying about they may be easier to spot.

Hmm...his porn stash. Which begs the question...do they make more detailed classifications such as what type of porn or just leave it at that?

I assume/hope this is by design. Really other than the stealthy helicopters, I don't think there is a lot of information that hasn't be released in the Special Ops/SEAL porn that has been talked about in numerous books and the never ended cable TV shows we've seen for the last decade.

I think a lot of this is just designed to terrorize the terrorist. "Remember when OBL sent you the congratulation note on the birth of your son, now the CIA knows your sons and wives first name, you better move your family." I think it makes the most sense to widely broadcast that OBL capture resulted in a bunch of new intelligence, even if we didn't find anything but garden variety porn.

I hope the President doesn't release any pictures of OBL's dead body but releasing some pictures of the porn should be done to prove it was there.
