It seems that his organization's recruiting tactic was to go to mosques and recruit people that were religious or newly converted and persuade them to join up in the name of religion.

I am sure that painting him as a religious hypocrite, if successful, might dissuade future recruits. It would show his actions to be either selfish (revenge oriented or being the big man) or politically motivated.

But, because this information comes from a biased source (the USA) as far as the middle east is concerned, it will probably do little to change the views of his followers.

The people who view him as a serial killer will say "ah hah"... he was a hypocrite.

His followers will say it is a lie.

Hopefully it will demoralize his organization further while they are reeling from the news of his death..... of course, many may believe it to be false.


I think the biggest value of that intel is the disruption to the organization.... lists of names, locations, operational methods, future plans and ideas, etc...
