Possible Aurora tonight in Northern US States and Canada

Those who live up North might get a chance to see an aurora tonight thanks to recent solar activity:

On Wednesday, there was a massive solar flare, followed by a coronal mass ejection (CME), on the sun. It takes a few days for electrons and protons associated with the CME to reach the earth's atmosphere, and in fact, it has JUST ARRIVED. This is evident from the latest planetary K index (a measure of the disturbance of Earth's magnetic field) form the NOAA Space Weather Prediction

Thanks for posting this. We went to Alaska to see the N. Lights and were not lucky. I did not realize that perhaps tonight we will get lucky and see them from home. Right now, it is cloudy but still lots of time.

A couple of shots I took earlier this month in Norway. A bit blurry because they were handheld on the deck of a ship. The pale dots in the background are stars.
