As long as we can keep measuring things, technical growth will continue. You may hear the phrase "analytics" more and more - because now there is processing power capable of crunching increasingly amounts of data, which as was mentioned above is coming from more and more sources. So one path of ingenuity will be figuring out how to use that data in various ways (which some will consider good, and others will consider bad).

Current target FIRE date: June 2018 - locked and loaded!

I think the next big things are in applying the computer hardware/software we have to solve larger scale problems facing society. Take a look at what the top universities and top VC firms are investing in now - energy, biotechnology and medical research. Fields like this will where we see fast paced innovation.

Looks like the point has been made that there will be not a "ceiling".

from the OP..
The question is, where is this headed? Are Apps and ITunes the moneymakers for the future? How many new roll outs of phones and tablets and accessories will there be? Who will be there to buy the 10T drive? How much faster will the next computer be... and more important , "WHY".
