Here is the 1963 protoype. Fast, expensive, and beautiful, just like the girl I wish I was dating at the time.

How did you get your hands on a prototype? (Yes, I'm still talking about the car....)

That was my first car, the 64.5 Mustang. 170 Cubic Inch engine, 3 on the floor. Had 150K miles on it when I bought it in 1970. A total POS. But my POS. I loved it. I may have a pic in a box somewhere, but no guarantees. I'll have to look.

My first college boyfriend had the 64.5 Mustang, in 1966 when we met. It sure impressed me. It was a beautiful ivory colored convertible, shiny and new.

He even continued to date me after I threw up copiously all over its beautiful interior one afternoon...

That is definitely indicative of his finer qualities, W2R!
Dang, and all DH had in his youth was a bitchin' Camaro. Way too redneck for me, good thing it was long gone by the time we met. However he took pains to tell me it was a 1974 Z28 with blah blah blah blah.

I bought the '67 in 1969. It had 18K miles and I negotiated hard to get the price down to $1,300. It was also a 3 on the floor but had the 289 V8.

About 7AM.

Bright sunlight and close camera focus and 60 years old is not forgiving.

That shot was posed on a deadfall from Hurricane Ike incursion into Ohio 14 Sep 2008.

Only involved as a friend who orders some merchandise.

Thanks. We actually set an alarm this morning so we could ride our bikes in the early morning sunshine, and when the alarm went I had a brief moment of sadness as I thought it was time for work, then the new reality dawned upon my consciousness.

We are having a blast

I didn't. I remembered that the car came out in '63 because I may have seen it at a car show with my dad. But the one I got was a later model in retrospect, maybe a '65. I'll have to peruse some family scrapbooks to be sure.

The girl was a '63.
