Recommended travel insurance for non-package deal?

We're planning a trip later this year and doing all of the reservations ourselves without any packages.

I've already read through a lot of the threads on here about travel insurance, so I have some feel for things like we don't expect to need evac insurance (since we'll be in Sedona, AZ). I've also never purchased travel insurance before.

Can anybody recommend where to buy good travel insurance for pieced-together trips like ours?

I used Travel Insurance - InsureMyTrip.com. Gives you muliple quotes with various coverages and insurers you can choose from. We ended up going with TravelGuard (but have never had to use it).

I looked into travel insurance last year when we went from Texas to Alaska and back (air/bus/train/cruise), but decided that the policies were very vague as to what they would cover and I was not familiar with any of the companies offering coverage.

I ended up not getting any insurance (and not needing any) because I applied the same logic that I use with investing~ "do not invest in anything that you do not completely understand".
