Great suggestions! Wish you guys were around for my going away party!

In my company, Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" would be appropriate...

I think this is very suitable for work, but management may not agree.

For some reason, I associate this song with retirement: I think it's the sense of liberation. "I was feeling part of the scenery/Walked right out of the machinery"

Great ideas! I just realized though that I had thought of making a CD so retiree could take it afterwards but who even plays CDs now? Geesh. I'm old.

How about Bob Dylan - Things Have Changed

"People are crazy and times are strange.
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range.
I used to care, but things have changed."

Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel. The perfect ER song, because it's about Peter's "ER" from Genesis. Lots of applicable lyrics. If you're "too young" to retire and nobody gets it:

To keep in silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut

And for anyone who has worked for MegaCorp:

I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery

(Edit) and I now see that Amethyst beat me to it!

Best goodbye song ever is "We've Only Just Begun" by the Caroenters. I know it's more traditionally a wedding song, but the lyrics are superb for a retirement send off.

We've only just begun to live
White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way
(We've only begun)

Before the risin' sun, we fly
So many roads to choose
We'll start out walkin' and learn to run
(And yes, we've just begun)

Sharing horizons that are new to us
Watching the signs along the way
Talkin' it over, just the two of us
Workin' together day to day
Together

And when the evening comes, we smile
So much of life ahead
We'll find a place where there's room to grow
(And yes, we've just begun)

Here is one, but some folks may associate it with a tv series, but it's really upbeat

I don't know how to make the player thing show up..
