Great jazz piano, great delivery of witty songs.

Mose Allison, Jazz-Blues Musician, Dies at 89 | Billboard

Mose Allison, a pianist and singer whose witty, southern-accented lyrics delivered over a backdrop of boogie-woogie blues and jazz piano won fans and influenced musicians across a wide spectrum, died Tuesday (Nov. 15) of natural causes. He was 89.

You know that life is short and talk is cheap
Don't be making promises that you can't keep

If you don't like the song I'm singing, just grin and Bear it
All I can say is if the shoe fits wear it

If you must keep talking please try to make it rhyme
'Cause your mind is on vacation and your mouth is working overtime

" Now I don't worry about a thing, 'cause I know nothing's gonna be alright".

And this Duke Ellington classic fits his style well.

I've got a couple of his albums, and have listened recently. He was different kind of performer, not to everyone's taste, but I always got a kick out of him, and really admired his skills.

Awww, man, one of my favorites. Here's one of his tunes that inspired The Who.

"You Call it Jogging" -- a John D. Loudermilk tune. John D. died in September, a passing that went largely unnoticed.
